The Subtle Joy Of Self-Care
The Subtle Joy of Self-Care: Are you listening to the signs?
In a world where productivity and constant DO-ing are celebrated, I want to promote more BE-ing. So today I’m leaning into the subtle Joy of self-care…
If you’re feeling beyond tired, it’s ok. You’re not alone. Let’s explore how listening to the quiet signs from your body and mind can help you create a deeper sense of well-being and Joy.
Why Self-Care Matters More Than Ever
We often hear about the importance of self-care, but what does it really mean? In a culture that values hustle and constant activity, self-care is a radical act of self-compassion.
If you’re feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, or emotionally drained, it’s a sign that your body is calling out for rest and rejuvenation. Self-care is about honoring your energy and recognizing that you deserve rest, care, and compassion.
Moving from DO-ing to BE-ing: The Power of Mindful Living
Many of us are conditioned to always be doing—achieving, striving, and pushing ourselves to the limit. But there is immense power in shifting from a state of DO-ing to a state of BE-ing. When we make space to just be, we allow ourselves to reconnect with our inner selves.
If you’ve been hearing the message to slow down, give yourself permission to listen. Create space for stillness, ask for grace, and take the time you need for yourself. Do what you need to do - FOR YOU!
You Deserve Compassion and Rest
It’s so important to remember that you are worthy of care, rest, and compassion. These are not luxuries to be earned after you’ve exhausted yourself; they are vital for a balanced, joyful life. Self-care is not selfish—it’s a necessary foundation for overall wellbeing and JOY. To align with your inner joy, you must actively mind your energy and prioritize your well-being.
The Practice of Subtle Self-Care
The art of subtle self-care involves paying attention to the small, quiet messages your body and mind send before they turn into loud demands! By noticing these signs early, you can take inspired action to care for yourself.
Consider adding some of these simple self-care practices into your daily routine:
- Take a few minutes each day to breathe deeply and check in with yourself
- Spend time journaling to help you notice how you feel and take inspired action to care for yourself
- Go for a nature walk to reconnect with the world around you
- Set boundaries by saying "no" to things that drain your energy
- Create a Daily Joy Ritual that can help you to feel calm and supported when faced with the stress and overwhelm of the day-to-day
These small, intentional actions can have a big impact on your overall well-being and JOY!
The Practice of Joy
Joy is active. It is a practice. In order to align with Joy we must mind our energy. This means listening to the messages, noticing the signs and taking inspired action before they get LOUD.
